Upcoming federal by-elections could see candidates from a new party in Canada, based on the premises of the American Idol contest.
The Online Party of Canada has 278 members among 3,000 users and was created by leader Michael Nicula in an attempt to bring an online connectedness back to politics.
Members can create an online profile and vote on the party’s official position, which Nicula says is not limited to anyone of any political affiliation.
There’s no word yet on who their candidates will be but Nicula tells the National Post, they’re not going to quit if they lose the first round.
