Firefighters quickly knocked down a house fire in the southwest Tuesday afternoon.
Around 1:00 p.m. the fire department was called to a single story house in the 500 block of 28th Avenue southwest.
Jason Doysher with the Calgary fire department says crews experienced heavy smoke in the house.
“The fire seemed to be at the rear of the house,” said Doysher. “Crews were able to use fans and other equipment to force the fire back out the direction it came, limiting the amount of damage done to the home.”
No one was home at the time of the fire and damage was contained to the one building.
The cause is still under investigation.
