Chestermere calls for aquatic rescue

One year following the drowning death of a father in Chestermere Lake the community still doesn’t have a water rescue boat.
A man involved in the failed rescue last summer says the town isn’t equipped to deal with future incidents and says having to call the Strathmore fire department is frustrating.
Richis Katumbay, wasn’t wearing a life jacket when he joined friends in the water last August but disappeared within seconds.
Katumbay was recovered from the lake five days later.
According to the Calgary Herald, the mayor of Chestermere says it was an isolated incident and it doesn’t plan to add a search and rescue boat to serve the man made reservoir.
