Arson unit investigates fire in Ramsay

The arson unit is investigating the fire in Ramsay that destroyed a home under construction and damaged three others.

Early Tuesday morning, what sounded like gun fire erupted from the home along Bellevue Ave. in the southeast, the bangs turned out to be explosions caused by the flames.

Police have yet to call the blaze suspicious.  The arson unit is looking into it now, because they don’t want to play catch up after, if it is determined to be arson.

“It’s much easier to front load the investigation then to be called several days later to say we think this might be suspicious,” said S/Sgt. Bruce Walker.  He adds, this isn’t the first time they were called to this home.  “There was an incident back in April where there was evidence there was some charred material in the location.”

Tuesday’s the blaze $3.5 million in damage, luckily no one was hurt.
