Buildings on a local southeast industrial street were evacuated just before noon Wednesday morning after a build-up of gas inside a cement silo caused it to explode.
Fire crews responded to McAsphalt Industries at 7404 30 St southeast to find debris scattered, windows broken and the top of the silo a couple of streets over on Barlow trail.
One of our Twitter followers tells us “Wow something just shook our windows and no-one knows where it came from!”
People in the area tell 660News they heard a loud bang.
The fire department says no structural damage was done to any of the buildings with blown out windows and some debris did hit a vehicle.
A McAsphalt Industries worker was fixing a valve on the silo with a blow torch, when it exploded.
No one was hurt.
