Fire crews rescue man and his dog from ravine

A man and his dog had to be rescued after falling into a northwest ravine around 6:30 Tuesday evening.
The dog had wandered off into the ravine near 40th Avenue and 53rd Street N.W. and was then unable to get out on its own.
The owner then went in after his furry friend and managed to become trapped as well.
Fire crews responded and using a rope, were able to rescue both the owner and the pooch from the ravine unharmed.
