Man rescued from elevator in downtown

A man had to be rescued from an elevator in the downtown core Tuesday night after being stuck for about two and a half hours.
The fire department was called in around 7:15 p.m. to a building in the 600 block of 5th Avenue, S.W. after being notified by an elevator repair company.
Fire crews used an adjacent elevator to gain access to the trapped man.
He was safely transferred to the working elevator through the ceiling hatch.
No word on what caused the elevator to stop working.
