Police crack down on bad behaviour over long weekend

The big concern for police is the heavier traffic they expect to see this weekend.
Last Labour Day, there were seven deaths and 51 injuries on Alberta roads.
“That’s why we’re working very hard with all of our road safety partners in trying to prevent these collisions,” RCMP Corporal Darrin Turnbull says.
He tells 660News they’ll be targeting speeding and aggressive driving.
Alberta Sherriff Jason Graw says they’ll also be looking for alcohol use, seatbelt infractions and distracted drivers.
“Motorists should be aware that we will be out in unmarked vehicles as well as motorcycles and other sort of unconventional enforcement techniques, in order to apprehend those people who think ‘oh well, if I see a patrol car out there I’ll just put my cell phone away,” Sheriff Graw explains.
Officers say their ultimate goal is to get everyone to their destination safely.
