2012 freshmen arrive at U of C

Labour Day Monday is move-in day at the University of Calgary for about 2,500 students.
Randy Maus is the U of C’s Director of Residence and Hotel Alma and paints a picture of what’s happening.
“At each door you have a group of student leaders who’ve already moved in whether they’re resident student leaders or orientation student leaders,” he said. “There’s lots of music and energy, people welcoming new students, helping them move all their possessions up to their rooms and get checked in and introduced to other people who are living in the community.”
Maus said move-in day also brings a wide range of emotions from excitement to be back all the way to the “Where do I go?” anxiety for new students.
He said all dorms are full but encourages students to get on the waiting list if they still need accommodations because there’s always last minute cancellations.
