CFIB reacts to Red Tape Reduction report

The Redford government has finally released a report about how they plan to cut red tape for small business in Alberta.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business filed an Access to Information request for the report that was initially due out back in March.
The CFIB’s Richard Truscott tells 660News, the report is fairly vague, lacks any real action plan or any true vision moving forward.
Truscott says the government needs to look for real systemic things to put in place to ensure the burden of red tape isn’t growing over time.
He does say however, it is encouraging to see some in the Alberta government are talking about how to cut red tape but not all the issues are being dealt with.
Truscott says there does seem to be some good language developing about the problem though and the government is getting closer to believing there is a real issue here.
He adds the legacy of the report will be determined by whether the government picks up the torch and charges forward or is quite willing to sit on its laurels.
