Hyundai Hockey Helpers program launched for underprivileged youth

Hyundai Canada is teaming up with KidSport Canada, Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban, and his family to help underprivileged kids get in the game.

Hyundai Hockey Helpers is a new program designed to help at least 1,000 kids play organized hockey across Canada that normally wouldn’t be able to afford it.

To help raise awareness, Hyundai Hockey Helpers is teaming up with program ambassadors who hold a personal connection to the cause including Subban.

He tells 660News, part of the program is a classroom-on-ice concept where through playing hockey, kids can learn life lessons such as dedication, perseverance, healthy living and how to work with your peers and teammates.

Subban says he was eager to get involved having dealt first-hand with the financial struggles surrounding organized sports when he was growing up.

KidSport will select the 1,000 deserving recipients and will then distribute the funds by providing a gift card for equipment and by paying registration fees directly to the hockey association on their behalf.
