A wild chase in Calgary Wednesday.
Police were called to the southwest community of lakeview after somebody claimed they saw a cougar.
Duty Inspector Paul Stacey tells 660 news, the animal was actually a Lynx or Bobcat, travelling with 2 of her offspring.
Despite the early morning excitement fish and wildlife officials decided against pulling out the tranquilizer gun and re-locating the animals.
‘Their advice was just leave them alone. They’ll go back to where they came from”, says Stacey. “Some people in the area said they had seen this cat before with four kittens. So, if that’s the case two of them were probably back in the den and it wouldn’t be a good think to trap the cat and move it somewhere else. Let it just go back home.”
Stacey says while officers were monitoring the cat’s activities it killed a rabbit and a couple squirrels and then shared with her kittens.
