Coutts border reopened after suspicious package cleared

The Canadian- U.S. border crossing has been reopened at Coutts, Alberta after the RCMP bomb unit inspected a suspicious package that was delivered to border services and determined it did not have any explosive material in it.
Inspector Joe McGeough says the bomb unit squad was able to reopen the border at around 6 p.m. Friday.
RCMP are not revealing where the package came from.
Danny Companion owns the bar at Glocca Morra Inn in Sweetgrass, Montana just across the border.
He says the parking lot was full shortly after the border was closed early in the afternoon.
“Well, it’s already picking up right now, I must have five or six people in the bar now just waiting.” He says, “I hate to see the border hung up, it’s kind of a busy border.”
Companion says he spoke to some Canadians who were upset about the closure and are anxious to get back across.
“There’s one person in here right now that has a load of snowmobiles, and he doesn’t know how he can get through to Alberta with them or not, and he’s kind of complaining, a Canadian guy.” Companion explains.
