Record attendance at Spruce Meadows

Warm temperatures brought out a record number of Calgarians to Spruce Meadows this weekend.

Almost 81,000 people attended the Nations Cup Saturday, surpassing a previous record set in 2011.

84 thousand attended the Grand Prix Sunday, second only to a record set last year.

Senior Vice President Ian Allison tells the Calgary Sun, the venue is an international destination and they have the best fans in the world.

He says Calgary’s rapid growth has kept spectators returning to the venue in the city’s south end.
