Alberta parents embrace RESP’s

A new survey says more parents are turning to RESP’s to fund their kids’ post-secondary education.

The survey by BMO says 57 per cent of parents in Alberta have already set up a Registered Education Savings Plan.

That’s compared to 52 per cent of parents nationally.

Post-secondary costs have been increasing steadily over the past decade.

According to The Calgary Herald, a four-year degree can now cost upwards of $60,000.

BMO spokesperson Robert Armstrong says it is encouraging to see parents are planning for the future.
