Calgary police release details on brutal beating

Calgary police are hoping the public can help shed some light on an assault and attempted sexual assault in the city.
It occurred last Thursday around 10:15p.m. after a woman left the Greyhound bus station and was walking along Pumphouse Road southwest towards the community of Sunalta.
She was approached by a man who asked her for a lighter. He then walked with her a short time before the attack.
Acting Staff Sergeant Brian Jepson with the sex crimes unit tells 660News, because of the extent of her injuries they were only recently able to interview the victim.
“She was brutally beaten and has been in hospital since Thursday, so that gives you an indication of the severity of the injuries,” explains Jepson.
