Windowless bedrooms critcized by council

Calgary city council members are slamming windowless bedrooms in new city condos in the northwest.
However, the practice has been legal in Alberta for six years.
Provincial safety codes approved the condos in 2006, as long as they came with sprinklers in case of an emergency.
On Monday, Alderman Gord Lowe tried to get the city to refuse all similar proposals but was unsuccessful.
Lowe tells The Calgary Herald it’s tantamount to “warehousing lower income Calgarians.”
The 366-unit project in the community of Kincora goes for final approval Thursday.
