Lions’ zoo debut delayed

Calgarians will have to wait just a little longer for the roaring debut of two African lions at the city’s zoo.

Baruti and Aslan have completed their 30-day quarantine, but zoo officials say they’re waiting to show them to the public.

The pair turn two-years-old Saturday, and will join two other female lions.

The females are too old to mate but zoo officials say they plan on bringing younger female lions to the zoo in the future.

Spokeswoman Laurie Skene tells The Calgary Sun the lions need to adjust to life in Calgary before the public meets them.
