Apple’s iPhone 5 hits stores

Apple fans and tech enthusiasts lined up outside stores early Friday to wait for the latest Apple smartphone, the iPhone 5.
It’s the first major revision of the iPhone’s screen size, since its first model in 2007.
The new iPhone’s screen is longer at 10 centimetres – allowing room for another row of icons, and more room to watch widescreen movies.
Earlier models’ had 8.9 centimetre screens.
The iPhone 5 is also thinner and weighs less than previous versions.
Zafir was first in line at the Chinook Centre, waiting 14 hours to get his hands on the new toy.
He tells 660News it was well worth the wait.
“I love it, it’s so nice and light, sleek, the black makes it look nice and stealthy,” he says. “It feels so much better in your hand, it feels durable and well made.”
Robin arrived at the mall at midnight and felt like a kid at Christmas.
“It looks impressive, he gave me a demo and it looks amazing!! I’m just coming from the 3G which is probably archaic now,” he says.
Apple started taking pre-orders for the new phone on September 14, and has since been flooded with requests.
Within the first 24 hours, orders were more than double what Apple had for the iPhone 4S.
Most phones will be delivered Friday, but Apple warns their initial supply for the phone doesn’t meet the demand.
Apple shares have gone up 86 per cent since CEO Steve Jobs passed away last October.
