Vandalized Alberta carvings never existed: RCMP

Mounties now say reports aboriginal carvings were vandalized in a rural area southwest of Lethbridge are a hoax.
Police began investigating after a man told The National Post a rock displaying old pictographs near the town of Glenwood had been deliberately destroyed by vandals.
Stanley Knowlton from the heritage site Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump said it appeared someone had used acid, a power washer, and an electric drill to damage them.
The RCMP now says there was no willful damage to the rock and there is no record of Native carvings ever being at the site.
Police say their investigation is complete and they have no idea what the motive behind the hoax was.
