TORONTO – The Canadian dollar closed at 101.95 cents U-S, up 0.45 of a cent from Wednesday’s close.
The S-and-P/T-S-X composite index jumped 105.99 points to 12,338.85.
Volume at 4:20 p.m. ET was 318.41 (m) million shares, valued at 4.35 (b) billion dollars.
In New York, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 72.46 points to 13,485.97.
The Nasdaq composite index was up 42.90 points at 3,136.60.
The New York Mercantile Exchange, gold futures price for December climbed 26 dollars, 90 cents U-S to 1,780 dollars, 50 cents an ounce.
The crude contract for November jumped one dollar, 87 cents U-S to 91 dollars, 87 cents cents per barrel.
