Prentice warns Canada to look elsewhere for oil and gas

A former Harper cabinet minister and current Vice Chair with CIBC say Canada needs to look past the U.S. for our oil and gas exports.
Jim Prentice was speaking at a University of Calgary event over the noon hour and says advancing trade relationships not just with China but all throughout Asia will be key to Canada becoming an energy superpower.
He says because we send 99 per cent of our oil to the United States, it makes us a ‘price taker’ and not a price maker.
The former Calgary MP also thinks no matter who wins the U.S. election, Americans will continue to pursue their own energy needs aggressively and Canadians can’t be lulled into believing our interests are the same as theirs.
