Stampede royalty crowned

The 2013 Stampede Queen and Princesses were unveiled at a ceremony Sunday involving friends, family, Stampede employees and volunteers.
Jessica Williams will serve as Queen while Danielle Kakoschke and Catherine Morneau of Quebec are princesses.
Williams, who lives in Okotoks and is a dental assistant, tells 660News what exactly are the responsibilities of the Stampede Queen and Princesses.
“We just go wherever they need us to go and do what they want. Like I said, we just all do it together so every event there’s the three of us and so we’ll be just traveling around promoting the Calgary Stampede” said Williams.
Kakoschke, who’s a 21 year old fourth year student at the University of Calgary, tells 660News the feeling of being named queen is overwhelming.
“I am in shock actually, it hasn’t quiet sunk in but I’m so excited. Today has been a blur and I’m just so happy to be with these other two ladies that I have beside me for a whole year.” said Kakoschke.
Morneau, who works in Canmore and has only been living in Alberta for a year and a half, tells 660News the desire to become Stampede royalty started with her first experience at the event two years ago.
“I was really amazed about the Stampede, and I found out about the royalty program and how amazing it sounds to be a princess and represent and promote the Stampede while at the same time having fun and growing as a person” said Morneau.
The trio will spend the whole year going to events promoting next year’s Stampede, when they’ll hand off the honours to three new recipients.
Tickets for next year’s Stampede go on sale Monday.
