Plans for longer CTrains delayed

Its unlikely Calgary will see four-car LRT service until 2015, and city council is bracing for backlash from the public.

Plans for longer CTrains have now been delayed a year longer than what Calgary Transit has long been promising.

But the city says it’s unclear when funding will arrive from the provincial government to allow them to deliver the extra c-train cars.

Alderman Peter Demong says it’s devastating, as it is trains in the morning are already sardine cans, and it’s going to get much worse.

The Calgary Herald reports even if Alison Redford’s government comes through with the funding; the bidding process for manufacturers will be a lengthy process.
