Police overhaul methods

A new pilot program has the Calgary Police Service making some changes in how it operates.
It’s being touted as an extensive overhaul of how the service conducts business, aiming to make the service more efficient and effective.
The Calgary Sun reports, among other things, the plan will see the force getting back to more of a ‘team’ approach, pooling the bulk of its general duty detectives, in the hopes of honing officers’ skills and better serving the city.
Police say the reorganization, which only just began, is the result of a year and a half of planning.
