Work to make a dangerous highway intersection east of Calgary safer starts this week.
Construction on the Hwy 1/Paradise Road intersection near Chestermere will close the centre median and eliminate left hand turns.
The stretch of road has been the scene of several serious crashes in the past few years, including one that killed two children in May.
Area MLA Bruce McAllister tells The Calgary Sun he understands motorists may be a little frustrated with the changes, but it’s for the greater safety of the community.
But McAllister adds he’s already heard from many residents who think the changes are necessary.
