Bars worry about cab shortage

A warning from the city that cabs may be hard to get this weekend has bar owners worried about their patrons.

Melrose Cafe and Bar owner Wayne Leong says he’s concerned many may choose to stay home.

City officials advised Halloween partygoers to plan ahead this weekend, as celebrations may make it hard to get a taxi.

Council approved 55 new cab licenses this past summer to combat high demand on weekends, but City Manager Marc Halat tells The Calgary Sun more cabs are not the solution, better management is.
