Second freezing death in Calgary

A second person appears to have died of the cold in as many days in Calgary.
EMS’ Adam Loria tells 660News, the body of a middle aged man was found lying in a church parking lot at 44 Street and 8th Avenue SE by some passers-by around 8:30 Monday morning.
“There was nothing paramedics could do at that time,” Says Loria. “We immediately handed the scene over to police who are either still investigating or have concluded their investigation.”
He says it appears the man died of hypothermia, but the medical examiner will have to determine the exact cause of death.
Early Yesterday, an elderly woman was found dead in the snow outside a southwest condo building along Coachway Road. She was in her pyjamas.
Loria says how quickly someone freezes to death depends on how well they are dressed, how much skin is covered, how cold it is outside and the wind chill factor.
He advises if you see someone shivering or stumbling about like they’re disoriented, they could be suffering from hypothermia, and need to get warm as quickly as possible.
