Sandy grounds passengers at YYC

Hundreds of flights have been cancelled at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport because of Sandy, and there’s a lot of red on the board at Calgary International as well.
Frustrated passengers heading to locales like Phoenix, Seattle, and San Francisco have been left with no other options than to wait out the storm.
In many of these cases, the planes that are needed have been grounded on the east coast.
James from Rocky Mountain House was headed to Phoenix on vacation until he realized his flight was cancelled.
He says no-one from the airline has told him anything, or tried to keep him in the loop.
“When I first got here, I was standing in line for awhile,” he says. “Finally one of the other passengers went up and asked and they came back and said the flight was cancelled.”
Another passenger tells 660News her airline has refused to put her up in a hotel, and she’ll be spending the night in the airport.
The situation isn’t looking good for incoming flights or arrivals, either.
The silver lining is flights heading to eastern Canada appear to be on time, and passengers are one step closer to going home.
