Calling all filmmakers!

CineCoup, a company aiming to get Canadian films out without a massive Hollywood budget, will be in Calgary Wednesday looking for filmmakers.

The company will choose a project in January and hand the filmmakers a $1-million deal to produce their film and show it in a Cineplex theatre.

CineCoup founder and President J. Joly tells 660News there’s more talent in this country than people realize.

“Right now, the way the current industry is, Canadian movies open and close in a week without anybody really knowing about them.  And without that first window, i.e. the theatrical, it’s very difficult for people to really fall in love with, not only the filmmakers but the films,” says Joly.

Joly and the CineCoup team will be at The Broken City in Calgary on Wednesday night.
