Alberta man being deported to Somalia, a place he’s never been

An Edmonton man is facing deportation to Somalia, even though he’s never lived there.

Saeed Jama is Saudi-born and was raised in Canada by his Somalian parents.

Jama is a convicted drug dealer.  He tells The Globe and Mail he’s tried to clean-up his life, but didn’t have a chance to atone for his crimes so he’s being deported to a country our federal government calls “extremely volatile” and advises Canadians not to travel to.

Jama’s family is hoping for a last minute stay of deportation by public safety minister Vic Toews, but fear it’s unlikely.
