Alberta doctors are united in their outrage over Health Minister Fred Horne’s inquisition of a new financial agreement with physicians and the Alberta Medical Association is demanding negotiations on a new deal by the end of december.
AMA President Dr. Michael Giuffre says doctors will not accept an arbitrary ministerial approach to cutting fees and threatening practices.
“We demand a fair, transparent, data-driven, review process. Physicians want to have a say in the delivery in our health care. Both doctors and governments need to resolve disputes with the dispute resolution process. No one personal can uni-laterally decide disputes,” he says.
Giuffre says, if that doesn’t happen by New Year’s Eve, doctors are discussing every possible option, adding he’s hopefuly, the dispute does not come to job action.
