Calgary fire extinguishes SE tire blaze

Calgary Fire is monitoring a tire fire that broke out early Wednesday afternoon in Forest Lawn.

Crews responded to the car salvage yard just after 2:30p.m. south of 17th Avenue on 52nd Street in the southeast.

Upwards of 150 tires and several vehicles were on fire according to early reports.

It has since been extinguished but CDF and the Hazmat team remained on scene to monitor hot spots.

Alberta Environment has also been notified of the fire, which remains under investigation.
