Man fighting for his life after stabbing downtown

A 23-year-old man is in hospital in life-threatening condition after being stabbed several times overnight.
The initial call came in around 3 a.m. Friday, but the victim was not at the address given by the person who called 911.
A second call led officers to the wounded man in an apartment in the 2300 block of 16 A Street S.W.
“Clearly there was some sort of fight or disturbance, and we don’t know who was involved, other than of course the victim,” says Duty Inspector Paul Stacey.
Stacey says the victim lost a lot of blood and is heavily sedated so can not tell officers what happened, but investigators do not believe it was a random act of violence.
Police are still interviewing possible witnesses on scene.
