If your morning commute includes Centre Street North, be aware that some major traffic changes begin Monday with the addition of transit lanes for city buses.
Northbound on Centre Street, a new transit lane goes into effect at 43rd Avenue before ending near Thorncrest Road.
Southbound on Centre, the transit lane begins near 54th Avenue, ending south of McKnight Boulevard.
Centre Street is a busy corridor. According to the Calgary Herald some 20,000 vehicles travel the thoroughfare each day. That’s in addition to 90 buses per hour, covering nine routes, between downtown and the north-central communities.
In addition to buses, the new transit lanes can also be used by cyclists and Access Calgary vehicles.
