Man gets five years for mailbox stabbing

A Calgary man who stabbed to death the man trying to jimmy open his mailbox with a knife will spend five years in prison.

Ahmed Abdulkadir Mohamed pleaded guilty to manslaughter in August of 2010 in the death of Ahmed Mahmud Mohammed.

The Calgary Sun reports Mohamed admitted knifing the victim once in the torso during a struggle at his 21st Ave. S.W. apartment building.

His sentence is less than the six to eight year sentence sought by the crown.
