CBE overcharges parents to bus kids

Parents of children in the city’s public school board could get a break in student transportation fees next fall because they were overcharged this year.
Calgary Board of Education officials say they made $2.8 million this year, contributing to a big surplus they are pouring into future budgets.
But CFO Deb Meyers tells The Calgary Herald if fuel prices spike, parents may not actually see much of a difference in what they shell out of their wallets.
Parents pay $295 a year to bus their kids to school, which added up to 30 per cent more than was needed.
