Good Samaritans help avert major fire

Fire crews had to break down the door of a southeast Calgary townhouse early Saturday morning.
They got a call around 2 a.m. to a complex on Abbercove Lane to find the outside corner of one of the townhomes smouldering.
No one answered when firefighters banged on the door, so Battalion Chief Larry Fisher tells 660News, they went in and found a woman in her twenties sound asleep.
They got her out and paramedics determined she was okay.
Kudos are going out to four Good Samaritans who had also tried to wake her up.
“During the event it was learned that four young men in their twenties were passing by, had noticed the fire and had knocked on the door attempting to warn any occupants inside. The young men then knocked on a neighbouring residence and told the woman who answered the door that there was a small fire on the outside of the building. The woman provided pots of water to the men who doused the fire in short order,” says Fisher.
There’s no word what started the fire.
