Parks Canada says elk numbers in Banff National Park are thriving.
Researchers have counted at least 215 elk between Banff and Lake Louise, indicating the herd is growing.
Resource conservation officers say it’s a good sign Banff’s elk management strategy will continue for another year.
Since 1999, Parks Canada has been trying to keep a hold on the numbers; to reduce elk attacks and make sure natural ecological processes are not being disturbed.
