Two people facing charges after serious NE intersection collision

Charges have now been laid against two people in a crash that sent a man to hospital with critical injuries.
Around 2:00 p.m Saturday on 52nd Street at Madigan Drive, N.E., a Ford Explorer rammed into the side of a Volkswagen Jetta, sending the man to hospital.
A Nissan Altima then rammed into the back of the Explorer, then drove off into the nearby Trans Canada Mall parking lot in an effort to hide from police.
Duty Inspector Paul Stacey tells 660News, alcohol was found in both the driver of the Explorer and Altima.
“You know what, it’s unreal! This is almost 2 o’clock in the afternoon and we have two people who were under the influence of alcohol, who were involved in a very serious crash. The man almost lost his life yesterday and ironically, he was the only one that hadn’t been drinking.” says Stacey.
Stacey adds Pamela Polkinghorne, who was driving the Explorer, is charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm and refusing to give a blood sample.
The man driving the Altima had his license suspended for three days as well as being charged with operating a vehicle with no insurance and registration.
