Crowchild Trail re-opens after massive water main break

About 50,000 drivers will be a lot happier with their morning commute on Tuesday.

The southbound lanes of Crowchild Trail are now open between Bow Trail and 33rd Avenue S.W.

A water main break, which happened over the weekend, is now repaired and the road has been re-paved.

The break is one of the largest the city of Calgary has ever experienced.

Crews initially thought two feet of pipe needed to be fixed, but a closer look revealed 21 feet of pipe had burst.
