Bearspaw student in stable condition after tragic choking accident

An eight-year-old remains in critical, but stable condition after a tragic accident at Bearspaw School on Wednesday.
The Grade three student was using the washroom when the lanyard around his neck became caught in the stall door.
He fell and was left unconscious, only to be revived later by a teacher administering first aid.
EMS then rushed the boy to hospital and RCMP Corporal Dan Turner tells 660News, “there was no foul play involved and there was no criminal activity involved and it appears at this time, to be a tragic, tragic accident.”
Board Superintendent Greg Bass describes their emergency protocol as strong and professional, but one parent has her doubts.
She says she’s seen at least two children seriously injured; one broke both of his arms, the other his collarbone. A mother of two herself, she’s been after the superintendant
to ensure each teacher has a first aid certificate and describes their conversations is like talking to a brick wall. She was told they’re meeting minimal occupational health and safety standards and was refused entry into the news conference.
Her main objective is always been in trying to keep her children safe but, now she adds she has her doubts.
