Criminals make off with red light camera

In a strange case, police are now looking for the culprits who got away with $82,000 worth of technology normally used to catch red light culprits.
The red light box camera was taken between 12:45 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. October 12th at the intersection of 14th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.
Traffic Staff Sgt. Michael Watterston tells The Calgary Herald not only is this unprecedented, but it’s not an easy thing to steal.
The whole unit weighs several hundred pounds, which lead to a live wire left hanging and traffic lights out at the intersection.
Watterston adds it’s not the type of camera you could use at a wedding.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
