Airdrie teacher facing additional charges

An Airdrie high school teacher, who is already facing charges for having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old, is behind bars again.

Police allege he breached his release conditions to not have any contact with the girl.

RCMP Constable Darrin Turnbull tells 660News John Christopher Miller now faces additional charges.

“He is facing 13 new criminal code charges, 12 charges of breaching recognizance conditions, conditions of his release from custody and one new count of sexual interference,” said Turnbull.

The arrest happened after an RCMP school resource officer spotted the suspended teacher’s vehicle leaving the George MacDougall High School area.

A follow-up investigation discovered the man had continued to contact the allege victim.
