Idle No More hits downtown Calgary

Hundreds took over a downtown shopping centre Saturday afternoon in a nation wide show of support for a northern Ontario Chief on a hunger strike.
The group pounded on drums and sang traditional music while hand in hand along all four levels of TD Square.
At issue is the Conservatives Bill C-45 that is seen as a threat to Native Canadians way of life.
Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence is in her 11th day of a hunger strike while awaiting a meeting with the Prime Minister.
Aboriginals fear the changes to the Indian Act as a result of Bill C-38, which include the opportunity for reserve land to be sold to non-natives could wipe out an entire people way of life forever.
Similar protests took place across the nation, including one in Ontario Saturday that shut down a pair of the province’s highways.
