Calgary road crews still working hard

Calgary road crews are continuing to clear streets in full force following the recent dump of snow.
Spokesperson Peter Jacoby says all available snow-clearing vehicles are out working, but it takes time to get things done.
“There’s over 16,000 lane kilometres of roadway in Calgary to maintain, so it is quite a feat. You also have to travel slower when you’re plowing, you can’t just race through and have to go over it a couple times,” explains Jacoby.
He says it’s also too cold to use salt on the roads, so they are laying sand in an attempt to provide traction for drivers.
He adds the break in snowfall is a welcome sight for crews trying to get ahead of the snow.
