Pit bull death sentence on hold

An Alberta Court of Appeal judge has given a Calgary woman 30 more days to try and keep her two pit bulls from being euthanized.

The dogs were ordered to be destroyed last June after they attacked a 35-year-old woman in April, ripping off half of her nose.

The pit bulls’ two owners, Donna Tran and Quoc Tran, have been convicted and fined $750 for the incident.

A city animal services peace officer calls the dogs “aggressive” and “unpredictable.”

But Donna Tran tells The Calgary Herald the assessment was given too much weight, and she does not feel the pit bulls will attack again.
