Many Albertans are ready to take a break from the cold.
January is AMA’s biggest booking month for the winter travel season, and this year is expected be a little busier than the last.
Spokesperson Nicole Berube says more and more people are booking hotels and flights closer to their departure dates.
It’s not exactly a bad thing; she tells 660News it all depends on what kind of trip you’re planning.
“Sometimes you know the airlines and the tour companies are continuing to drop their prices within the last couple of weeks, but if you’re travelling with more than a couple of people, than you definitely want to book farther in advance so that you are not disappointed.”
The majority of travellers this year are heading off to Mexico, Hawaii, and southern states like Arizona, Nevada, California.
Berube says it’s important to know the destination you’re headed to, and recommends you purchase travel insurance and know what is and isn’t covered when you leave Alberta.
