Chinook LRT station is ready to close

Starting Monday January 14th those who use the Chinook LRT station will have to leave a little earlier for the commute.

The station is being demolished and replaced to upgrade the platform for the upcoming four-car CTrains.

Ron Collins with transit tells 660News bus service is being expanded during the renovations.

“The actual bus terminal that was at the station is just moved over to 3rd Street S.W. and it’s within a ten minute walk from the station and that’s where folks will be able to grab all the buses that would normally feed into the station and us the bus routes from there,” he says.

The new station is expected to open in about eight months.

Those who use the station have some concerns about the project and how it will affect their commute.

Tom tells 660News he’s going to have to leave earlier than before as he’s concerned the shuttle bus system will really slow him down, while Debbie is upset shuttle buses are only running north to 39th Street, and not heading south to the Anderson station like they have in the past when the Chinook station is was closed.
