Oil Sands Developers Group prepares for possible “Idle no More” protests

Highway 63 in northern Alberta is expected to be among the future targets of the growing ” Idle No More ” movement.

On the weekend, traffic along the 14th street bridge in Calgary was shutdown for several hours by a protest.

The Executive Director of the Oil Sands Developers Group tells 660News, they are preparing for possible disruptions, but Ken Chapman says it’s not against the law for people to protest.

Chapman says he is having conversations with police and government representatives to make sure the protests are peaceful and don’t last too long.

He says a prolonged shutdown of the only road in and out of Fort McMurray could be costly.
